Micronutrient Nutritional Analysis

Are You Getting the Nutrients You Need?

University research shows that 50% of people taking multivitamins are still nutritionally deficient. Even those that eat a balanced diet, exercise and take a multivitamin. Why?

 Biochemical Individuality
Because each of us are metabolically and biochemically unique, the micronutrient requirements for one person may be quite different than the requirements of another.

 Absorption
Although you may eat a balanced diet, if you do not absorb vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and/or other essential micronutrients properly, you may have deficiencies.

 Chronic Illness
Health conditions such as arthritis, cancer, cardisovascular disease, diabetes, fatigue and multiple sclersosis, can be affected directly or indirectly, by micronutrient deficiencies.

 Aging
Our micronutrient requirements at age 30 are quite different from our requirements at age 40, 50 and beyond. Absorption difficulties, especially of vitamin B12, quite commonly occur as we age.

 Lifestyle
Excessive physical activity, prescription drugs, smoking, alcohol and sedentary habits all impact micronutrient demands.

At the Florida Institute of Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine, we utilize Micronutrient Nutritional Analysis Testing developed by Spectracell Laboratories. With a simple blood draw ,  you will be able to determine the nutrients in which you are specifically deficient and choose supplements based on your actual deficiencies. This takes the guesswork out of vitamin and mineral supplementation or the "more is better philosophy" , which can be dangerous in both pharmaceuticals and supplements. Micronutrient Testing measures nutrtional status using your white blood cells, so any deficiencies reported are unique to you. Thirty two nutrients plus anti-oxidants are tested and the testing gives a 4-6 month nutritional history since it is performed on cells that have a long lifespan. It is more than just a snapshot.

 The Following Micronutrients Are Tested

 Vitamins:  A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, C, D, K, Biotin, Folate, Panthothenate

Antioxidants:  Alpha Lipoic Acid, Coenzyme Q10, Cysteine, Glutathione, Selenium, Vitamin E

Minerals:  Calcium, Magnesium, Manganese, Zinc, Copper

 Amino Acids:  Aspargine, Glutamine, Serine

Carbonhydrate   Metabolism:  Chromium, Fructose Sensitivity, Glucose-Insulin Metabolism

 Fatty Acids:  Oleic Acid

 Metabolites:  Choline, Inositol, Carnitine
