Walking, the simple act of putting one foot in front of the other... happens to be a great exercise. But before we begin a walking program here are some beginning recommendations . Have a visit with your primary care physician especially if you have not had a good physical examination recently. You want to make sure that you are healthy enough to begin a walking program. Your primary care doctor can rule out any current medical or underlying medical conditions that you may be unaware of that would pose risk of injury or complication prior to beginning your walking program. Once you have the green light from your primary care physician, the next stop is a Podiatrist. Since walking involves the feet, and a Podiatrist specializes in treating the foot, it is the Podiatrist who can examine your feet, treat any existing foot problems, look for any foot deformities that may be of now or future concerns and is the best physician to recommend a great walking shoe to fit your feet! Ok, now you have taken great initial steps to begin walking your way to good health!
